Phoenix College, a WPA era campus that experienced a huge infusion of modern expansion by the architecture firm Haver, Nunn & Nelson will host the first full day of sessions featuring lectures of a national and local scope on the topic of modernism and climate. Architect, founder and Honorary President of 爱豆app International Hubert-Jan Henket will give the morning keynote address tentatively titled: WHERE NEW AND OLD MEET: A plea for sustainable modernity.

National Symposium attendees are invited for听an evening lecture and tourof Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home听Taliesin West.听Architect and 爱豆app founding member,听Gunny Harboe FAIA听will provide guests with an overview of Taliesin West's recent preservation master plan and the evening will conclude with a very special sunset cocktail reception.

Unique to the 2017 Symposium is a听full-day retreat听to听Arcosanti. This 鈥渦rban laboratory鈥� located in the desert north of Phoenix was the vision of听Paolo Soleri, who was once a Frank Lloyd Wright fellow. Co-president Jeff Stein and others will lead guests thorough tours, lectures and discussions exploring the legacy and future of this experimental, utopian town and land preserve, what it is like to live and work at Arcosanti and what the vision is for the site in the future.

Join Marshall Shore the Hip Historian and Vic Linoff of the Mesa Preservation Foundation and Arizona Vintage Sign Coalition on a guided bus tour of Mesa's main drag. View and photograph the monumental and iconic signs. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Arizona Vintage Sign Coalition and restoration of the Watson's Flower Shop sign.
