Architect and educator John Klingman will lead a virtual walking tour, showcasing featured projects and the power of StoryMaps to foster public engagement and support preservation efforts.

Join us for a tour of this sprawling Lake Vista residence overlooking the levee and Lake Pontchartrain, designed by acclaimed architect and Tulane professor Charles Colbert in 1960. In addition to The Kirschman House, Colbert’s contributions to Southern Louisiana Modernist architecture included schools, houses, small office buildings, motels, and urban planning in the New Orleans area.

Join us for a panel discussion and tour of the Seafarers Building, an historic mid-century modern building along the lower Jackson Avenue corridor. The panel will focus on the process of assessing a building’s suitability for adaptive reuse from four different perspectives. Moderated discussion and Q&A to follow.

This Kickstarter-funded 2017 documentary is an immersion into the life and work of New Orleans-
born Modernist architect and student of Frank Lloyd Wright, Albert Ledner.

Get an insider tour of the innovative, new wellness center in the former Norwegian Seaman’s Church. The modernist former chapel and rectory building date to 1968 and were originally designed by architect Nils Erling Hansen, a New Orleans native with Norwegian ancestry. An overview of the history of the building and the renovation process will be presented by Bell Butler Design & Architecture.

This presentation will highlight local seminal buildings of the mid 20th century and link them to roots in the city’s changing urban structure, the historic architecture of the region and contemporaneous trends beyond New Orleans.
